HipHopCharts.com.au is Australia’s first and only dedicated hip hop chart.
It was created to shine a spotlight on the best homegrown talent, and to give hip hop fans and members of the community a better look into what’s happening in the Australian scene.
We aim to bridge the disconnect between industry and artists, allowing labels/A&R (in Australia and globally) to discover talent that otherwise wouldn’t get the exposure.
Our mission is twofold:
1. Provide fans of Australian hip hop with the most current music/creative projects from the best in the country; and
2. Create opportunities for Aussie artists.
The ‘Top 100’ is ranked using our proprietary SongRank algorithm (which takes into account factors such as song + artist popularity). The ‘Artist 100’ is ranked by order of Spotify followers.
All data on HipHopCharts.com.au is currently (only) being derived from Spotify.
The charts update each Monday around midday AEST.
Our database has been carefully curated and stores virtually every Australian hip hop artist – that meets our criteria. Our database is updated on a daily basis. However, we are aware that in some rare cases (with an emerging artist/song) that our algorithm may not automatically pick it up. If you believe you (or your songs) are missing from the chart, please let us know at [email protected]
For eligibility artists must adhere to the following:
- Musical output must be primarily classified as hip hop or a derivative of hip hop (rap, grime, drill, trap).
- Must be a citizen (including dual-citizens) or a permanent resident of Australia.
If you have a concern with regards to the eligibility of a song or artist, email [email protected] with your reasoning and our team will be sure to take your request into careful consideration.
As we grow, we will be continuously updating the site with new features, including further integrations with platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok and others with the aim of creating the best digital experience for the Australian hip hop community.
